Royatly Rentals Journal Entry #2
Our elite table dolly arrived today and that meant Kylie and staff met at the warehouse to assemble the most needed tool in managing our orders and easily getting 10 tables from point A to point B. Tools like a socket wrench and a phillips screw driver would have been handy, but we were left with an allen wrench and a $0.25 8mm wrench that comes with the dolly. You know, the one that is as thin as a stick of gum and has trouble gripping the bolt.
Anyway, in a warehouse with no air conditioning we set out to assemble the grand daddy of all dollies with 400 bolts, 800 washers, 400 nuts ( 404 including those working on it) and a manual that would have made War and Peace proud. Half the time we were reading the French version of the manual and left us even more confused.
Lessons learned:
- When one is instructed to keep certain bolts loose, one should listen to those instructions.
- Having the proper tools is a time saver as well as knuckle preserver
- Conveniently forget your reading glasses so as not to get stuck reading War and Peace in aiding with the assembly
- Invest in oscilating fan to keep the temperatures from reaching solar proportions
- Ask questions: For men only, follow the instructions and ask Kylie for help. It shouldn’t take an industrial engineer and 4 hours to assemble
- When completed, celebrate by showering and removing the 5 lbs of soaked sweat shirt that weighs more than the elephant exhibit at the Phoenix Zoo
- There is a reason this is a female run company, so that the owners can sip mint julips while the help assemble the dolly
